It is one of the fastest-growing waste streams. Worldwide, e-waste has nearly doubled since 2010, from 33.8 million metric tons to roughly 62 million tons in 2022. Global e-waste generation is projected to reach 82 million metric tons by 2030.
When electronics are improperly disposed of and ends up in landfills, toxic chemicals are released that can pollute the earth’s air, soil and water for generations to come. E-waste disposal in landfills can also pose serious threats to public health.
